↗︎ Carlo & Selma is a Norwegian-Italian DJ duo based in Copenhagen. Their contrasting backgrounds render a perfect match behind the decks mixing north with south, and that is also partly why we like them so much: Musically they are grounded in classic house and disco, but frequently experiment with a wide range of music, reaching from African grooves and Latin beats to breakbeats and Techno. Second: We like people being playful and thinking/acting not only beyond epochs and genres, but also communities. They have set the mood of most dancefloors in Copenhagen — including Culture Box, Jolene, and ↗︎ Ved Siden Af (previously Et Andet Sted) — and paid foreign visits to Salon Zur Wilden Renate, Berlin and Dalston Superstore in London. They are also residents at Ved Siden Af and co-founders of the club night ↗︎ ↗︎ Group Therapy where they work actively for promoting underground queer culture and female representation in the city’s music scene. GOLD. — Selma already DJ’d at Karmaklubb*↗︎ in February, and hopefully we will be able to follow our plans with a bunch of gigs with both of them — IRL — during late 2020 (2021, Covid ...) — ENJOY!
Dear beloved friends of Karmaklubb*. We have started to telecommunicating live, in desperation and frustration, in lack of being able to do what we live for: gather people IRL. Operating on distance will never be our preferred method. It feels like putting on a dress when you do not want to. The neon claw cannot shine and paint the room green. Neither can we talk or dance together. Not kiss. But, over the next weeks, perhaps months (please, let us hope not!) a selection of ‘virtual smoke signals’ will take place: DJ sets, followed by concerts, sound productions, podcasts, talks, and more — hopefully making us both happier and smarter, ‘thought and pleasure’ — served by the most generous and trusted beings.
