With rainbow coloured flyers and posters — everything! — we celebrate the tenth edition of Karmaklubb* with an all-nighter at Ingensteds. The largest production to this date and not to be missed! We start off at 18:00 with the first DJ set, by Saronia (NOR) — already a veteran at Karmaklubb*, now adjusting to deeper bass lines and disco — accompanied by ‘queer juice’ with Autentico & Unico Real Wines (NOR) and food served by the fantastic The Golden Chimp (NOR) — till empty. The ‘chimp’ just got the prize ‘Rookie of the year’, and tonight they will make one of their specialities for us: vegetarian bao.

Next up book launch of ↗︎ TROLLKREM IMPORT (2018) as well as artist talk between artist Tor Erik Bøe (NOR) ( Trollkrem (RIP) (NOR)) and curator at the Munchmuseet i bevegelse – samtidskunst (Munchmuseet on the Move — Contemporary Art) (NOR), Tominga O’Donnell (NOR). They will guide us through the four-month marathon of artist duo Trollkrem’s five events along the Grønlandsleiret, Oslo for ‘Munchmuseet on the Move’. Documentation shot by ↗︎ Maria Pasenau will make sure you have flashbacks with international names such as ↗︎ Vaginal Davis, ↗︎ Lex Brown, ↗︎ Dynasty Handbag, ↗︎ Marie Askeland, as well as HAiKw/. The publication is also free tonight!

Around 21:00 it culminates into a performance by American artist, musician, editor, and more, Tyler Matthew Oyer (PA, USA). He is not only a friend of Karma*, but also Trollkrem, and it will be exclusive. Drag? Spoken word? Singing? Tyler asked for loudspeakers, microphone, and a tripod: ‘The rest is me in costume’, he said. ↗︎ RELEASE DELUXE is a musical reckoning that seeks to cast spells against hetero-patriarchy and conjure queens for new tomorrow.’ Well, that is promising. Exclusive outfit and styling for the occasion — a dress — by ↗︎ HAiKw/ as well as some fisting cloves.

Murmur (NOR) aka Sunniva Mellbye enters the stage at 22:00, a live concert with synths, a Mac, herself, and a totally unforgettable invisible shirt, styling by ↗︎ Tekla Lou Fure Brandsæter — presented by MELK (NOR), magazine for queer culture.

Ida M (NOR) from the DJ collective Too Many Girls (NOR), also a veteran and dear friend of Karma*, takes over the decks with warm house — passing it on to two legends, DJ Sunshine (NOR) and DJ Malin (NOR), tonight B2B. They have played all over the country since the early 90s — we grew up listening to the cool programme DJ Sunshine at radio NRK P3, imagine — are known for club initiatives such as ‘Ladies at Work’ and ‘Frie Former’. This is one of very few sets they do together — for years. It will be eclectic, but good (it was!!!); DJ Sunshine insists on soul, disco, funk, and ‘very hot RnB’. Malin promises House, Afrobeat, and Reggae. Well, well, well.

Berlin based Chroma (DEU) is the finale tonight from 01:30 to 03:00. This is the second time she enters the House of Karma*, and what an honour; Chroma has played for years at queer events in Germany and Europe, among them the ↗︎ SchwuZ, ↗︎ Freudenzimmer / GentleWomansClub, ↗︎ Lesbisch-schwules Stadtfest Berlin, and ↗︎ Gegen / KitKatClub. As always, a selection of ‘queer juice’ at Karmaklubb*. Tonight, we have a special tasting with Autentico & Unico, and a few of the goodies are also available for the rest of the night. ‘– To the moon and back” … Or, “dry and dusty”?’ (Hello, Fever Ray!) A synopsis on the wine here:

• ‘Funambul Cava Brut Nature Reserva 2017’, Equilibri Natural, Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, CAT; 11.5 % ABV; Cava — tonight’s karma* bubble 1. In it: Xarel·lo (half), the rest Macabeo and Parellada. Ecologically farmed hand harvested, maceration, minimum 26 month on lees, no dosage. From chalky clay, some gravel. This you can taste! Looks like: Clear, pale straw yellow. Feels like: Fresh and a firm, but smooth nose; sparkling and foamy on the tongue, chalky, with very good balanced dryness. Extremely elegant.
• ‘Kalkspitz 2017’; Christoph Hoch, AUT; 10.5 % ABV; Pet Nat — tonight’s karma* bubble 2. In it: Grüner Veltliner and whole lot more. Harvested by hand, spontaneously fermented in neutral tanks and old barrels, roughly filtered. Second fermentation on bottle. Chalky rocks-from-the-Alps. Feels like: Sparkling with small, elegant bubbles. Pale, cloudy. Loads of fruit, especially apples. Chalk and minerality. Fresh and easy to get a crush on, not very complex in the long run, but definitely a pleasure. Beach bubbles!
• ‘Force Majeure Chenin Blanc 2018’, Mother Rock Wines, Swartland, ZAF; 12.0 % ABV; white — tonight’s karma* white. In it: Chenin Blanc, only. Spontaneously fermented, even biodynamic, unfiltered. Form soil with a lot of granite. Feels like: Pale yellow, cloudy. Extremely fruity, even tropical notes! Filled with minerals — you will taste the rocks, still not too metallic. You will not stay neutral to this one; perhaps the ‘one for tonight’.
• ‘DM Rouge 2016’, Domaine de Majas, Languedoc-Roussillon, FRA; 12.5 % ABV; red — tonight’s karma* red. In it: Syrah and Grenache. Hand harvested, spontaneously fermented, organic. From clay and slate. Feels like: Pale ruby red. Red berries, herbs. This is a light bodied red wine, but delightful through its complexity. With or without food. In other words, you can easily bring this along the dancing moves.
