A portrait of Jannik Abel, for ‘OSLOOVE’ and the Oslo City Archives
Virtual item / Hybrid / IGWTLI publishing
Description

Jannik Abel and Tine Semb meet outdoors in the forest in Nordre Frogn, where Jannik lives and works as an artist. Through approx. 47 minutes, Jannik tells about what it's like to move away from the capital as a fifth-generation Oslo citizen. This is also a conversation about the need to connect with oneself, knowing yourself enough to sometimes choose withdrawal to find balance; about otherness; and how to approach and work with materials — in particular wood (preferably from fallen trees) — has a therapeutic effect. The meeting takes place outdoors among animals, plants and trees, wind, and running water. Relationship: Acquaintances and colleagues in art and culture as well as work with human rights and freedom of expression.
