OPEN CALL: Oslo Queer Market — Winter Edition!
Description

Karmaklubb* and ↗︎ Below The Belt present Oslo Queer Market — Winter Edition! Come join us for the third Oslo Queer Market on 1 November! We invite all queer artists, crafts people, hobbyists, community groups and businesses to be a part of this beautiful and growing event. Meet other queer makers, new customers and raise money for the people of Palestine. For the previous edition and inspiration, go ↗︎ here and ↗︎ here. *** DM to register! *** Registration is necessary and binding so we can keep track of who’s in. We are especially interested in hosting more community services and groups this time around. Please spread the word!

Please note: We don’t ask fees from sellers or charge admission on the door but instead ask for donations to the running and organising costs amounting to around NOK 5,000. Once those are covered all donations go to ↗︎ Gaza Sunbirds.

Everyone will have access to one small table minimum. If you require bigger/different kind of space please let us know when applying. More info regarding table sizes, venue info etc. will be provided closer to the time of the event. The market is wheelchair accessible with gender neutral, accessible toilets available. If you have any questions or concerns around accessibility please get in touch so we can resolve them.

We ask that you include some basic info when applying:

  • A brief description of what you’ll be bringing/showcasing/promoting.
  • A brief bio in English and a couple of photos of yourself and your work / business / community group for us to share on social media plus links and tags.
  • To be early out: Photos of your work and yourself.

As part of our fundraising efforts, we have held lotteries and auctions both during and after past markets. If you can’t make the market itself but would like to donate to one of these, then please let us know!

The venue and times will be confirmed soon but this summers market at Dattera til Hagen ran from 12–17(19). We hosted over 20 different artists, craftspeople and services, and the day was busy from start to finish with an incredible turn-out of people. Including the post-market auction we raised well over NOK 10,000 for Gaza Sunbirds.

Said about the market:

Newt Petride / Queeriosity Closets: “The Queer Craft Market is the sparkly, glitter-covered dream Oslo didn’t know it was missing! It was pure magic being surrounded by wildly talented queer creators, all showing off their fabulous, funky, and feel-good creations. Think queer knick-knacks galore — from the adorable to the downright outrageous — all made with love, pride, and a sprinkle of campy genius. It wasn’t just a market, it was a hangout, a queer wonderland where creativity ran wild and community vibes were strong.”

Hair by Lina Maria: “To be part of Queer Craft Market was a great experience! I made friends there and gained new customers. Best of all is the love inside of the community. A safe place where we can all meet, talk and spred love. Really looking forward to next time. <3 / Lina Maria”

Anja Tvenning / @marerytter:
“The market felt like being part of a community, with lots of creative people. The open support for Palestine makes participating more meaningful.”
