↗︎ Thought and pleasure session 1.1: Marte Gunnufsen.
Thursday is set for a double ‘thought and pleasure’ session as part of the Karmaklubb* x METEOR 2021. Yes. Daytime we will talk to artist about two gems in the shape of moving images; Queen! and Metamorphosis, both launched in 2018 and made together with drag artists in Chicago. Carsten Aniksdal and Sølve Sæther was behind the cameras, and among many others involved you will find the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra. METEOR writes: “Historically, the ballroom and vogue scene replaced geo-cultural identity and background with their own interpretation of the term ‘house’. This afternoon we invite you to conversations about the potential of (queer) bodies in various architectures, as well as voguing and drag, inspired by choreographers ↗︎ Trajal Harrell and Shlomi Ruimi / ↗︎ Mimi Devine and artist Marte Gunnufsen, who will be showing their work during the festival.” — Perhaps you have seen these films already; last weekend we screened them in public on facades by coupling with the Kopf Kino; on Saturday in a proper museum cinema at KODE 2. But how did these films end up here, and why did Marte choose to do make them in the first place? It took years making them. What did she learn along? And speaking about entering and spending time in spheres you are not usually frequenting; by putting these works on display in such various locations, what can be achieved? These are things we are interested in. So, let’s touch upon this and a whole lot more. Till then, please spread the word and make sure to join us at KODE1 / Permanenten at 12:00 for approximately an hour.
Plug in house party: ↗︎ Thought and pleasure session 1.2: Ideophone Records, represented by Julie Silset and Rudi Valdersnes — *vinyl only*!
The second part of today’s session is with dear Ideophone Records, represented by and ↗︎ Rudi Valdersnes (NOR). It will be a colourful gathering and party. Julie and Rudi runs the label (alongside ), and they areaffiliated with the ↗︎ lub collective DOT. Silset and Valdersnes regularly play b2b on ↗︎ Vers Libre where they host the monthly radio show Vogel Tanzen. Inspired by artists, activists and labels near and far, they want to explore new and unknown dimensions of their own musical practices by combining techno/club music with folk music and electronic sound art as the starting point for an alluring and curious listening experience. New and old stuff, but always vinyl! Besides, nighttime you will be able to see Marte’s the films again, although without sound.
