Soundscape
Description

A mixtape — yet another gift; the whole set from the ↗︎ Pre-Parade Brunch, 1 July at Dattera til Hagen, 10:00–13:00. Filled with Espen’s musical inspirations, perfect for sunny days or a cosy night with wheat buns. Espen’s introduction:

“So proud to be a part of Karmaklubb* and Oslo Pride. I did a set that would blow my 22 year old self away, way back when I started DJing. I got to play most of my inspirations from back then: Anime, funk, proto-house, city pop, new wave, elektronika, house, disco, italo, techno, gangster rap, even rock. Places like Memphis, Houston, Detroit, Chicago, NYC, Scandinavia, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, you name it. Pride started as riot, a rage brought on by not letting people be themselves and not accepting minorities. Clubbing started because of gay culture, as a safe place from the hatred they felt (and still feel) in their own neighbourhoods. In the sixties discoteques was not a place for dancing, but a place to hang out and be seen. Thanks to the gay clubs of the US, Brittain and Germany, the clubs evolved into a space where it was safe to express one's self fully and truly, it was a place to go without beeing hit upon, no matter gender, and these places pushed music in directions you could never dream it to go; to House, Techno, Trance and beyond. If you don't know the history of something, you won't know who to thank. And if you dont know, you might infringe on that safe space. A simple thing like using flash on the dancefloor without permission, you cannot know if that is very uncomfortable for someone who regards the floor as a safe zone. Queer is not a term talking about sexuality, but a word defining all of us outcasts. We strive to make our own places to be, so please partake with respect No matter where you skip in the Karmaklubb* set, you’ll find a love song. Some of them singing about being in love, some about falling out of love, about letting someone back in love, some about getting it on, and some about the love of life itself. Perfect for the summer, beachlife, dates, travel and pre-parties. Enjoy!”
