Thought & pleasure
KODE 4 / Bergen Kunsthall
Description

A day and night of thought and pleasure. Karmaklubb* is back in Bergen with a full day of queerness and joy — food for body and soul, spectacular performances, all culminating in a club night. A lot of Drag. Anchored in the local scene, we also bring along some of our family in Oslo, not to mention a lot of neon. Please join us all for a celebration now that we finally can! Where: The golden line of 1) Bergen Kunsthall 2) KODE 4, Tårnsalen 3) Landmark. All day: Special selection of queer wine by the glass at Landmark!

2 PM, Bergen Kunsthall
↗︎ Plattform/Platform: ‘Queer Spaces?’ with Danja Burchard and Maike Statz on ‘Dissident Publics: Future Artefacts of Queer Methodologies’ and NOGOODS; Tine Semb (Karmaklubb*; methods of entering spaces and working with institutions, in particular ‘Queering the Museum Investigations’); Cassie Brødskive (Art of Drag; an academic, activist, and artistic approach); moderated by Nora-Swantje Almes (Bergen Kunsthall, Landmark). Plattform is Bergen Kunsthall’s series of lectures and debates with artists and prominent thinkers. The talks are live-streamed and recorded and will stay in Bergen Kunsthall’s online archive. The conversations usually take around an hour. This edition is part of the Karmaklubb* ‘thought and pleasure sessions’. *FREE* entrance!

↗︎ 9:30 PM, KODE 4
Performative programme: Drag, dance, joy! Cassie Brødskive with Juan Felipe Machista, Luna Palmer, and Maple Thorpe of the Haus of Friele; the one and only, Her Highness Frida Marida, and Jorge & Thomas’ site specific edition of Distance Closed, part 2. Club and most likely Drag surprises. DJs: Julie Silset & fxggxt. Silset & fxggxt joines forces this evening with a far-out B2B set! Serving a bodacious mix of groovy percussive Techno spectacle and a dash of immersive, trippy 90s House nostalgia and filthy East London House. Aiming for only pleasure, no guilt. Buckle up, sweeties, for a sweaty night of non-stop ecstatic dancing! 03:00, Kiss and goodnight.

Endnotes

A chapter of the Karmaklubb* ‘Queering the Museum’ investigations. Produced with all the beauties involved. Supported by KODE Art Museums and Composer Homes (both) and realised in collaboration with Bergen Kunsthall and Landmark. Further reading: Queering the Museum investigations is an ongoing project (2019–) by Karmaklubb* that deals directly with museal architectures representing archives, collections, proclaimed containers of our history and truth, in particular art museums. Among the ‘cases’ are the old and new Munch Museum / MUNCH, Oslo; KODE Art Museums and Composer Homes, Bergen; National Museum of Norway, Oslo; the Vigeland Museum, Oslo; and Preus Museum, Horten.
