In this talk, ↗︎ Alvin Godart reflects on a decade of immersion in the world of natural wine. A journey that began as a family affair, following his cousin ↗︎ Fleur Godart in the early days of Vins & Volailles. From long vineyard interviews to the creation of the Pur Jus books — written by Fleur and drawn by ↗︎ Justine Saint-Lô — Alvin contributed by helping record and transcribe conversations and accompany the early stages of the project, blending storytelling, relationships, and a deep curiosity for those who grow and make wine. In 2020, Alvin officially joined ↗︎ Vins & Volailles, combining his background in luxury events with the radical, joyful vision shared with Fleur. Together with the team, they launched a collection of activist wine labels using the bottle as a political surface to question power dynamics and highlight social struggles. Through provocative names (↗︎ Putes Féministes, ↗︎ Mâle Tears, ↗︎ Me libérez pas je m’en charge …), the labels sparked both laughter and dialogue, while donating a share of proceeds to relevant organizations. This intervention is not about giving lessons, but about sharing an experience: how a queer person and a feminist woman, cousins and co-conspirators, attempted to bring a bit more poetry and politics into the wine world. It’s about codes, contradictions, convictions and the bittersweet end of an adventure, as Vins & Volailles closes in 2025 to become ↗︎ Fine Fleur, a more intimate and hybrid project. Expect thoughts on identity, collaboration, exhaustion, joy ... and what remains when the bottle is empty!
