Clubbing and such
Blitz, Oslo
Description

Come laugh, feel, reflect, and be surprised by an electrifying evening of stand-up, dance, poetry, and performances — a one-of-a-kind cabaret where degrowth imaginaries come alive on stage to question our world and dream up new ones!
The ‘Degrowth Cabaret’ is a performative and participatory event that invites conference participants and local audiences to engage with degrowth imaginaries in a vibrant, unconventional format.

This will be the first cabaret of its kind: an artistic intervention within the degrowth movement that challenges the boundaries between academia, activism, and art. Blending theatre, music, dance, storytelling, satire, and experimental formats, this is not just a show, but an invitation to imagine possible futures together. The Cabaret foregrounds critical joy, embodiment, and collective creativity as tools for socio-ecological transformation, offering new ways of feeling and acting upon economic alternatives.

Organizers The Chaga Collective emerges from the desire of creating a space that bridges structural thinking and affective engagement. Acknowledging that motivation needs emotions in order to flourish, the collective sees creativity and arts as a “magical wand” in the paradigm shift: A vehicle that enables people to engage with questions on how we can live and die better. We are inspired by the mycelial wisdom of the fungal queendom, where creativity is indeed a collective process and resilience is built by being dynamic and ever evolving.
“Just like the fruiting world of fungi, our future imaginary embraces queerness. A breaking with the monotonous monologue of heterosexual normativity. The Cabaret is a celebration to the multitudes of being, and we are lucky to get the party on thanks to two local queer communities Karmaklubb* and Queer Community Club (QCC).”
QCC is a queer, experimental, creative community based in Oslo, aiming to create a space for queer and LGBTQIA+ people with an interest in club culture, music, creativity, and performance art. In the same line, Karmaklubb* is an autonomous, nomadic queer platform, part space for critical reflection, part celebration. Since 2018, Karmaklubb* has counted more than 350 projects in Norway as well as to some extent internationally and through virtual formats.

Waste, one of the resident DJ’s from QCC, will spark the dance floor with playful tunes from the waste bin! We’re grateful for having the party provided by this queer constellation during Oslo Pride week!
