Paulina Tamara: ‘Photography for gender liberation’. Photographic shots from four series from spanning from 2017 to 2020, including portraits done during the 71BODIES’ project ↗︎ In First Person: The House [Digital] (2020), Q*-Parts (2020), and Let’s talk about the pink elephant in the room (2017), as well as a new series of portraits focusing on gorgeous beings in drag. Through the work, Paulina is asking: ‘What part of a queer body is any different from a heteronormative body?’ ‘Have you ever felt like the pink elephant in the room?’
↗︎ Paulina Tamara is an artist based in Bergen, Norway, having a MFA Photography from the University for the Creative Arts (UCA), London, mainly working with photography and ideas concerning identity and (queer) culture. She has earlier exhibited at ‘↗︎ Skeivt Uteliv i Norge 1950–2018 / gayclubbing’ (2017–2019) in collaboration with ↗︎ Skeivt arkiv, shown at ↗︎ Kunstplass Contemporary Art [Oslo] and University of Bergen, where she exhibited more than 200 Polaroids taken of queer nightlife in the big cities around Norway. In the recent series Q*-Parts (* queer; qorona; quarantine) the term ‘queerness’ is explored; ‘what lies between identity and image?’ ‘What is a social code?’ Paulina is an eminent photographer. Friend of Karma* since early on. Thank you, Paulina, for sharing this.
