Thought & pleasure
Pamflett, Bergen / Virtual space
Description

This weekend Karmaklubb* and is doing a grand finale in Bergen having the honour of participating at the eight edition of the ! The fair goes both online and offline between November 2020 and May 2021. They ask: ‘[Due to the current situation], what is a digital art book fair?’ And furthermore: ‘Because of the inherent physicality of art book fairs, the answer to the question is not obvious. The social aspect of the fair and the tactility of the books might not have a digital equivalent. And our answer is not definite by the launch in November. The digital fair will continue to grow over the next […] months ahead. […] We hope to getting closer to something that might resemble the art book fair vibe, and […] enrich the future versions of Bergen Art Book Fair.’ — Yes, please. And for the occasion, two super fresh texts (November 2020!) are being riso printed on site in second edition and co-published by — our true Bergen friends and print house in the west. Always doing it with skills, generosity, and love.

12 to 16 December, from 15 CET to 18 CET!

Endnotes

is an international festival for art books and independent publishers in Bergen, Norway. It is organised by , an artist run self-publishing workshop and mediator of artist’s books that host residencies, book launches, exhibitions, and workshops, with collaborators locally and internationally. Pamflett also has a special risograph workshop — an environmentally friendly print and copying method from the middle 80’s, usually based on soy (in 2020: rice) inks and handicraft — as well as sort of an exhibition space and book store at street level in Møllendalsveien 68 A. Here you can touch hot prints, meet nice humans and often dogs, too. Besides BABF, Pamflett host events as Fanzinekveld (formerly known as Bergen Zines) and forms one third of Norsk Risoforening. Pamflett is established and run by Ann-Kristin Stølan and Fredrik Rysjedal. This year’s fair is funded by the Arts Council Norway (Kulturrådet) and the Freedom of Expression Foundation (Stiftelsen Fritt Ord). Programmer and designer for the online edition is Magnus Nyquist.

Our texts are printed on site by Pamflett and print master Ann-Kristin. They were first published at the 2020, an international self-publishing festival with a focus on indigenous perspectives, under-represented voices and emphasizes cross-border collaborations, and co-published by the organisers , Tromsø.
