Next edition of Queer Sauna Sessions: Tuesday, 9 April! Nephentes arose from the circles of the vibrant drag group Vesterbro Dragudlejningsservice in Copenhagen, Denmark, and started DJing after moving to Tromsø. Nephentes’ music selection is greatly formed by a decade of FUN and sexy queer parties and five years as part of organising Insomnia Festival in Tromsø. The mix Nephentes gifted to QSS caters attempts to catch the different sensations and bodily transformations through the sauna experience, while exploring the lyrical theme of platonic love.
The music style is soft, ephemeral, and experimental, with many songs being known through radio shows at ↗︎ NTS. To describe the the mix, Nephentes named an all new genre: Platonica.
Platonica certainly has a soft, inclusive sound to it, suggesting a genre that’s inviting and warm. From the acoustic and intimate, to the electronic and ambient. It could appeal to listeners seeking solace in the beauty of friendship and the complexities of human connection, beyond the often-singular focus on romantic love found in popular music. We can’t wait to enjoy the mix in the Sauna, bringing a misty Sunday vibe to our Tuesday session.
