Endnotes

‘“Munchmuseet on the Move — Contemporary Art” (2016–2019) was a programme of temporary art projects by younger artists in different spaces, indoors and outdoors, in the Munch Museum’s neighbourhoods on the east side of Oslo. The transdisciplinary projects were anchored in the local context and characterised by dialogue with different institutions and people living and working in the area. The programme was a continuation of the Stenersen Museum’s work with contemporary art, whose premises closed at the end of 2015. Works from the Stenersen Collection, which became part of the Munch Museum Collection, were shown in collaboration with Kunsthall Oslo during the same period. The main aim of Munchmuseet on the Move – Contemporary Art was to establish relationships with the neighbourhoods the Munch Museum moved through on its one-mile journey down to Oslo’s waterfront — from Tøyen to Bjørvika — with the opening of the new museum in 2020.’ (Excerpt from the box publication with all the ‘Munchmuseet on the Move’ catalogues, shown in the video)
