Back at the seagull: Karma* x Foot Books x Albatross
Thought & pleasure
Bar Albatross, Oslo
Description

We are back at ‘the seagull’; a night to toast precious drops among old and new friends. Tonight we celebrate a new partner in crime, . And as a result of our lovemaking (meaning: connecting through typographic nerdiness, printporn, and hex yellow #ddff00) you will be able to take home one or several of our newborns. One of them is a pre-release of our first thing on paper; ↗︎ a fresh indigo printed fanzine with drawings made by our long-term friend . The other is our new ↗︎ unisex feet socks. If we are really lucky we are gathered with some new gastro femme+ allies. In any case we do have a very special guest and new friend, natural wine nerd, Techno festival organizer, burlesque dancer, gründer … . Let us gather the nerds with taste for joy. A special wine menu for this night, curated by Karmaklubb* as well. Including precious drops from Grapeland, hopefully La Sorga, Mother Rock, and Jordi Llorens. Happening: , Torshovgata 5, Oslo. ↗︎ Facebook event here. ↗︎ Subjekt article here. *** RESERVATIONS NOT POSSIBLE; FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED (WITH LOVE)!!! ***

Endnotes

We have finally had a meal. Listening to Watermelon Sugar on repeat. Trying to digest the craziest day ever at Bar Albatross since their opening in 2018 … what just happened there?!!!!! A full street as long as we were allowed, a full house all night, too. Empty bottles from our special curated menu (all of them?!!) — We are overwhelmed … THANK YOU SO MUCH for gathering with us, bringing your friends, and staying!!! 9 hours of Karmaklubb* and joy. There were a lot of talk going on there in the green light beneath the tree. Actual conversations. And that beautiful green zine P.L.U.R. by Espen Iden and Martin and Erlend Peder aka Foot Books. So much love to you for initiating this rather unexpected but very logical collaboration!! Together we do change things. And Espen: You happens to be one of the sweetest persons alive. He even brought a dozen of vinyl for the occasion, looping all night. Thank you, new friend and partner in crime, Henriette (Wulff, Vinbaren på Mølla). For taking part and even offering your leg as a seat. This continues! Ole, Tom-Fredrik and Co. at Albatross: You are amazing. Love to old, new, becoming friends and Karma* Knights showing up … WOW. Thank you all for creating *magic*, once again. Actually, the next gathering with Foot Books and Espen is 6 October at Baklengs. Then we play the vinyl and Traktor loud. And celebrate once again.

Collaborators
Queer wine
‘Bela’ by Čotar, from Kras, Slovenia; 11.8 % ABV; imported by Grapeland
Orange with bubbles! We once wrote a poem, a fable, some ‘fairy words’ dedicated this one; if Bela was a person, a lady with a tight skirt, not necessarily short, but fitting. Acting persistent, playful eyes … For the wine it is a legend, but who knows how it will be today in strange times? In it: Malvasia and Vitovska, from red clay on top of limestone; skin contact for one week, spontaneously fermented; neutral oak barrels for two years; unfiltered. From earlier: ‘The maceration makes is rather yellow. Small bubbles. Feels like: Fruity, but very fresh, crisp, and extremely well balanced with its dryness, rather elegant. A hybrid of a sparkling wine that opens for an eclectic set of connotations … worth mentioning is old paint caskets from the 90s, cured ham, and candy. Still very elegant.’ Try.
‘Ancestral de la Cristina 2019’ by Jordi Llorens, from Catalunya, Spain; 12.0 % ABV; imported by Unico
A straw yellow PetNat made of 100 % Macabeo from limestone. And a sweet rainbow on top. Do we need to add more? Trust us the wine is worth it, too. Biodynamic, small (this is one of 8 000 annual bottles from the whole yard.) The Macabeo does 1 week maceration, the rest in bottle. Flowers, they say. A lot of flowers. Citrus and sour dough. Creamy bubbles and long happy ending. Yes?
‘Force Celeste PetNat 2021’ by Mother Rock, from Swartland, South-Africa; 11.5 % ABV; imported by Unico
Fun peach coloured sparkling one! Tried this the other day, and you might get tricked by its pink looks, not to mention the berry and flowery nose. Watermelon sugar high? Not completely. In it: Chenin Blanc from granite soil and Pinotage from slate and clay. About 60/40 those two grapes. Naturally fermented on steel.
‘Sorgaahl 2019’ by La Sorga, from Béziers, Languedoc, France; 13.0 % ABV; imported by Unico
Red clay wine. It was this or some Robinot pepper wine. Luckily, we managed to get ‘Sorgaahl’, made by our favourite wine guru Antony Tortul. La Sorga is not always pleasant, but still unforgettable. Hard core natural wine. In fact, Antony care for Norwegian Black Metal as well, and this one is named after Gaahl. (And even though we do not care much for labels, Gaahl was one of the first openly gay BM artists, just sayin’. He is cool. And we hope to hang in Bergen in October. But that is another topic.) In it: Cinsault and Carignan (113 years old stocks!) from warm and maritime environments with limestone, clay, some slate. Hand harvested grapes, fermented on amphoras, no filtering. Sounds rough? It is. Some say blue berries, cherries, even viols. We see dencity, ripe darkness. Smack.
