Karmaklubb*
OPEN CALL: Queer Craft Market 2025 — SUMMER EDITION!!!
Thought & pleasure
Description

After ↗︎ last year’s wonderful gathering, Karmaklubb* and Below The Belt once again join forces. Queer artists/producers within arts/crafts — be it textile works, tattooing, bondage knitting, zines, hairdressing, flower binding, costumes — please join us for a celebration of juicy queer expressions and fundraising:

The summer edition of ‘Queer Craft Market’: Sunday, 8 June — with fundraiser for ↗︎ Gaza Sunbirds aid.

The events will be at Dattera til Hagen at Grønland, Oslo. The weather decides if we will use outdoor and/or indoor spaces, but we promise there will be room for everyone participating. Following the tradition we will make sure there’s an afterparty, too. Let’s celebrate our creative talents, share some queer joy and get to know each other better!
The plot is easy:

  • Participation is free* and we don’t charge a fee/commission (if you choose to sell). However, registration is necessary and binding so we can keep track of who’s in <3 DM ↗︎ @karmaklubb_oslo
  • Everyone will access minimum the space of one small table. We will provide the dimensions ASAP, and if you require a bigger/different kind of space, please get in touch. To be on the safe side: Bring what you need.
  • If you have questions or concerns about any accessibility requirements please get in touch so we can resolve them.
  • In advance of the Market, we will have to know what you plan to show. We will ask for some basic info (what you’ll bring; bio in English, approx. a paragraph; a few images of you and your work; tags/links) when responding the call — by 1 May.
  • During the Market, we will also open up for a silent lottery. And there might be something cooking of delightful surprises.
*Please note: We have secured the venue free of charge thanks to years of good collaboration. For this reason we don't ask a fee for sellers but do ask that anybody with a stand donate/contribute towards our actual organising costs amounting to 5 000 NOK — everything helps.
There will also be a fundraiser option for both stallholders and attendees to donate to relief efforts in Gaza. But everyone participating is free to decide if/what to donate and how much.

We had an absolute blast at last year’s event. Being in the same space as so many talented and creative queers and trans folks was like a balm for the soul! While we didn’t keep track of how many folks turned out to the market we were certainly very popular and raised over $1,100 for ↗︎ Operation Olive Branch! Said about the market:

Newt Petride / Queeriosity Closets: “The Queer Craft Market is the sparkly, glitter-covered dream Oslo didn’t know it was missing! It was pure magic being surrounded by wildly talented queer creators, all showing off their fabulous, funky, and feel-good creations. Think queer knick-knacks galore — from the adorable to the downright outrageous — all made with love, pride, and a sprinkle of campy genius. It wasn’t just a market, it was a hangout, a queer wonderland where creativity ran wild and community vibes were strong.”

Hair by Lina Maria: “To be part of Queer Craft Market was a great experience! I made friends there and gained new customers. Best of all is the love inside of the community. A safe place where we can all meet, talk and spred love. Really looking forward to next time. <3 / Lina Maria”

Anja Tvenning / @marerytter:
“The market felt like being part of a community, with lots of creative people. The open support for Palestine makes participating more meaningful.”

Are you interested, or perhaps you could forward this within your community and/or someone you believe wants to know about this? Please do. The more, the merrier. For information about last round, go ↗︎ here.

Accessibility info: If you have questions or concerns about any accessibility requirements please get in touch so we can resolve them. The venue is ground floor and wheelchair accessible with genderless toilets and a wheelchair accessible bathroom in the same complex.
